Job Description Becoming the purchasing manager in “Royal Ahrend APAC” is a very challenging role. You will work closely with the planning-, production-, quality-, warehouse, the engineering- and sales-department. Your department currently has four team members, which directly report to you. However, the team is expanding fast and we expect it to double within a year. As the purchase manager you will report directly to the operations manager. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Manage the Purchasing Team in all aspects regarding the following duties: 1. Sourcing for suitable suppliers that can fulfill our requirements on service level, quality and pricing. 2. Finish the inquiries from other internal departments correctly and on time. 3. Develop projects and suppliers within the required time and cost target. 4. Manage suppliers to ensure project lead times, price and quality according to the requirements. 5. Support our supply base by providing solutions (in cooperation with our quality and R&D departments) for quality issues and technical challenges. 6. Supplier audits and credit research. 7. Support commercial term negotiations and contract management. 8. Improve collaboration with key suppliers and promote their expertise in product development, logistics, engineering and manufacturing. 9. Arrange the necessary activities according to project requirements. 10. Continuous improvement of supplier payment terms. 11. Manage annual cost down projects. 12. Set up a visual KPI system and improve performance. 13. Maintain proper purchasing records in the company’s ERP system and maintain integrity of supplier master files. 14. Ensure the purchase team is in compliance with company policy and guidelines, especially on business ethics. 15. Other ad hoc tasks assigned by the operations manager. 16. And of course, manage your team to help support in the above-mentioned tasks Qualifications You are a mid-career professional with at least 10 years of experience in a similar role and in a related industry. Preferable you have working experience in high-end foreign/international office furniture companies. You have a bachelor’s degree as well as knowledge of Quality principles f.e. 8d problem solving, etc. As head of purchasing you have sufficient Knowledge about product cost structure. A mechanical engineering background and being able to use 2D and 3D software will make you a good fit for the position. For our main products you should be familiar with stamping, injection, aluminum die-casting, machining equipment and process, upholstery, soft seating etc. Your language skills allow you to use fluent English and Mandarin. Attitude and work ethic is everything at Royal Ahrend APAC, so we are looking for candidates that have plenty of both. Unsocial hours and extended hours to reach deadlines shouldn’t be an issue. Enthusiastic, curious, team-player, willing to go the extra mile. Location Our APAC headquarters is located in Taicang close to Shanghai. |
